5/3 – Important Info for Sunday

10847399_838393046239144_5970511244735955625_oThis Sunday, May 3, we will meet for one combined service in Springfield at 8:30 a.m. due to the Lincoln Funeral Reenactment. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:45.

Large crowds are anticipated in the downtown area as the processional passes by the church. 4th street will be blocked off at 9 :00 a.m. and we will lose access to our parking lot after that. There will be no parking on 4th street that day. We will be able to leave the parking lot through the Jackson Street exit at anytime. We encourage you to carpool as much as possible.

The funeral procession will not begin until noon and may not come by the church until 12:30 or later. While we wait for the procession, we will have a potluck in Merriam Hall. The church will provide a meat and cheese tray, bread, beverages, & table service and everyone is asked to bring a side dish or dessert to share.

The funeral procession has not been reenacted since the original funeral so this very likely is a once in a lifetime experience. More info & a link to the entire route map which is on the 2015 Lincoln Funeral Coalition website can be found at:

We will still have our regularly scheduled worship service at the New Berlin location at 5:00 p.m.

Also, this Sunday, you may still bring your donation for Undie Sunday for the James Project. Any size donation of new children’s underwear and socks, for boy or girl, is being collected.

And, this Sunday is “Blanket Sunday.”  Your monetary donation to Church World Service helps provide blankets to those whose world has been torn apart by war, severe weather, earthquake, or other disaster. Envelopes will be available in the pews, which say “Blanket” & give as many multiples of five dollars as you can to support this service. Make checks to Central Baptist Church.
