We hope that you’ll join us as we work to help your children grasp the importance of this virtue for their lives. Our Focus Group leaders and Storytellers will use Bible stories and activities each Sunday to teach your children about God. The first Sunday of each month we’ll also have additional Cue Resources available to help!

12/22 Worship Schedule Changes

GodInOurMidstTitleThe schedule for this Sunday, December 22 has a few changes. There is a special Christmas cantata for the first service, so services will be from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. There is a fellowship time from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. for all members immediately following the service in Merriam Hall.  If you are in the second service, come early and join us, too!

For children (of all ages), there will be a Birthday Party for Jesus in the Noah’s Ark room (room 210.) Drop your children off promptly at 10:30 a.m. The Christmas Story will be read and then they will have a special cake treat for the party. If your child has food allergies, please bring a substitute.  Adults will go down stairs and enjoy coffee, treats, & fellowship.

During the 11:00 a.m. service, there will be also be special music and Josh will bring a brief message. The kids will stay in the service with their parents. Of course, young children are welcome in the nursery. We also know that Kindergarteners may have a hard time sitting, so they are welcome in the nursery as well. There are activity bags located in the main entrance for the children to keep busy, if they would like to bring one into the service.

Also, be sure to join us for our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

OGHS – Philippines Typhoon Relief

large_devastation
We have all been deeply saddened to hear about the loss of life and destruction our friends in the Philippines are dealing with in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. I want to encourage you to pray for all those impacted by this tragedy and to consider if there are any other ways God might be leading you to reach out in support.
Through the One Great Hour of Sharing offering we participate in each year, some funds have already been sent to help get immediate aid on the ground for those in need. If you would like to further contribute to the relief effort you can do so online at the International Ministries website (http://bit.ly/1eI7MYE) or by placing a check in the offering plate Sunday with OGHS-PHILIPPINES TYPHOON RELIEF in the memo line.
You can read an article on initial relief efforts here: http://bit.ly/1brPlUH
“God our help and hope when waters rise.

Sustain all those who seek to save others,
so that they may repair the ruined cities,
raise up the former devastations,
and be the restorers of streets to live in;
through Jesus Christ, our eternal savior.”
